The Resource Center

This is an ideal place for those who are searching for their roots or simply willing to gain or extend their knowledge on the Jews who once lived in their home-towns. The Center staff are ready to assist everyone in their genealogical and primary sources research. They can also provide information on how to preserve Jewish material heritage and on any issue concerning Polish-Jewish history.

The Center offers access to:

  • comprehensive information about the Museum’s collections
  • a library containing thousands of books on Jewish history, religion and culture (visit our catalogue)
  • genealogical databases (MyHeritage, Ancestry, Jewish Records Indexing – Poland)
  • oral history interviews from the collections of the POLIN Museum, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute, “Centropa” Foundation
  • a catalogue of names of towns from the territories of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in Yiddish and Polish
  • historical maps of towns
  • online portals (Virtual Shtetl, Polish Righteous, Central Judaic Database, Jewish Warsaw).


The Center also offers access to tactile graphics in Braille for the blind and visually impaired, presenting selected items from the POLIN Museum’s Core Exhibition. We also provide access to computers which are equipped with a special program for people with visual impairment

The Resource Center is located, next to the Museum shop, on the ground floor (Level 0) of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Access to the Center does not require you to purchase a ticket to the exhibition, but making a prior appointment is necessary.
